Surround Sound

Some might say that the world of surround sound is far more complicated than a simple two channel hi-fi system. In many respects, that is true. There are certainly more components involved and far more cabling to run. However this does not mean it has to be far more expensive or difficult to understand. We've broken down the standard home theatre into separate components, allowing you to select which products you are after, step by step.

  1. Source products, in regards to surround sound, include anything that plays a disk. Blu-ray, DVD and CD players are all examples of source products.
  2. Once you have your source unit, you'll need a Multi Channel Amp/Receiver. This processes the sound for the surround sound effect, and provides control over the system, e.g. volume control.
  3. You'll also need some sort of Vision device. This can come in the form of an LCD, LED or Plasma TV screen, or perhaps a projector for the dedicated home cinema.
  4. The final component of the system are the speakers. You can select from our large range of individual Speakers, or if you're after a ready made package, look under Speaker Packages.
  5. If, on the other hand, you don't want select the individual components of your surround sound system, you can just browse our range of Lifestyle systems. These systems frequently include the source, receiver and speaker components in one simple package. You will still need something from the Vision category to partner up with a lifestyle system. Note you will also find items such as clock radios or the SoundCast system under Lifestyle systems.
